Dr. Jimeno A. Fonseca

I am Jimeno, Senior Researcher and Principal Investigator at the Singapore ETH-Centre.

Here I study how changes in climate and urbanisation affect the mission, structure and performance of buildings and energy systems in cities.

I use this knowledge to develop new data-pipelines, algorithms, and software packages for analysis and optimisation of energy systems across buildings, districts, cities and regions. One of the mostly known is the open-source software the City Energy Analyst or CEA.

My work informs environmental policy as well as engineering systems and operations, including renewable energy systems, building technology, transportation systems, urban micro-climatology, and urban planning and design.

I obtained a PhD from the ETH Zurich in modelling, analysis and optimisation of community energy systems. In the past, I have participated in several award-winning projects looking at energy efficiency and renewable energy integration in developing countries.

I am member of the chair of Architecture and Building Systems of the ETH Zurich, visiting professor at the department of computer science of the Universidad Central de Colombia and Principal Investigator of the Future Resilience Systems II Program and the Cooling Singapore Project of the ETH Zurich.
